Thank you to NELD (North East Ladies Day) for their most generous £1000 donation prior to Christmas to help parents and families on our Neonatal Units at North Tees Hospital Stockton and South Tees Hospital Middlesbrough.
The donation enabled us to distribute hampers (food & treats) to the parents who have babies on our Units (x2 large hampers for those visiting throughout the day and x 10 small hampers for those who found themselves staying at the hospital 24/7).
We also provided some grocery bags for any families who wanted to take advantage of the offer, supported by partner charities helping with food poverty.
Having sourced the goods ourselves and packaged the goods we were able to provide these at a very reasonable cost rather than purchase ready-made (under £150).
Any remaining funds will go towards providing support to ensure parents get food when vigilantly being by the cot side of their sick & preterm baby. We do this by providing vouchers to spend towards meals in the hospital (£600 will provide approximately one month’s supply of vouchers).
Whilst there are some restrictions in place due to Covid, hindering the provision of meals we are also offering to purchase a fridge on one site for parent’s food (estimated cost £250).
If you would like to know more about the work NeoAngels does to support babies on the neonatal units and North Tees Hospital and South Tees Hospital, please don’t hesitate to contact our team.
