Kirsty & Shaun Lowther Step Down

It is with regret that I am writing to inform you of our decision to stand down from our position as trustee’s of NeoAngels.

As you know the charity was set up in October 2015, following the early arrival of our twins Noah and Ava. Their early arrival at 26 weeks, meant that they required care on ward 23, Neonatal Unit at the University Hospital of North Tees Hospital for a total of 76 days.

Since becoming a registered charity we have raised in excess of £35,000 and helped over 53 families. The fundraising efforts of our supporters has allowed us to purchase many items for the unit including: ten apnea monitors, twenty stethoscope’s, Christmas staff uniforms for all staff on the ward, welcome to the neonatal unit signs and purchases for the family room (chairs, tables and books etc.) for siblings.

The main aim of the charity when started was to help families in the same position that we found ourselves in. We are proud to say that we have achieved this and more. In addition to providing emotional support to affected families, we have also provided practical and financial help; such as assistance with parking and travel expenses and provision of food vouchers.

Our recent success of campaigning for a specialist incubator has led to the unit currently trialling this with view to purchase being financed by NeoAngels. Provision of a hot cot for the unit is also pending subject approval. All of this has only been possible due to the support, hard work and ongoing dedication of the charity’s supporters. Your contribution to the charity has shaped it into the success it is today.

For each and every single penny and pound raised, to every minute of time volunteered to our fundraising events, there are too many of you to mention – We would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

This charity means everything to us and we have put blood, sweat and tears into every part of it. We are very proud of what we have achieved, starting from an idea to growing a successful charity.

Unfortunately, other commitments have become too great for us to be able to continue to fulfil the requirements of our positions within NeoAngels, and we feel it is best for us to make room for someone with the time and energy to devote to the job. We hope the success of the charity continues with as much passion and determination that we have invested in to it. This has not been a easy decision for us to make, however it now feels the right time for us to step back.

All our love,

Kirsty & Shaun Lowther
